I want candy!!

So this week's challenge over at http://www.letsscrap.ning.com/ was to use a song title as your page title and of course use one of their sketches. Ellie is a candy addict, which is crazy because they hardly ever get it...or maybe that's why? Anyway, she loves that you can use a twizzler as a straw and you can't see in the pics but her shirt says I love candy. I had to buy it when I saw it because I've never met a kid so obsessed with candy!

Colors around my house

So this week http://memorableseasons.blogspot.com/ had a color photography challenge on their blog. I almost gave up on it as I would have much rather gone outside to find colors....but the rainy weather had other plans. So instead I went on a color hunt around our house and here is what I found :). I actually may scrap this, they're not particularily special to me, but they're in my house and it's stuff my kids might remember some day (remember that duck mom had sitting on the shelf...what was that about lol?), I think I'll add to it though with some other more "special" things.

A mother daughter challenge

My ten year old daughter Rachael was super excited to find a kid challenge blog....since she's seeing mommy be soooo addicted to challenges lol. So this month's challenge was for mom to do the first part, just the bones of the lo and then her part was to add embellishments and finish it off. I think we make a good team :). Pics from my brother's wedding this summer, still have more to scrap but this fit perfectly for the sketch challenge this week at http://52sketches52weeks.ning.com/. I used my handy dandy embossing pen with some of my "the crafter's workshop" templates. You also can't tell by the post but I used bazzil bling paper for the background and matting, I'm in love with that paper, I could use it on anything but I thought it especially appropriate for a wedding page!

Craftwell E-Craft

Soooo yesterday I got the go ahead from my hubby to order the Cricut Expression...and while shopping around making sure I was getting the best deal I happened onto a craft critique blog that showcased the new E Craft. I about fell out of my chair, seriously it's like they read scrapbookers minds! Quiet Moments

So I've decided after scrapping for six years you can only say your kids are beautiful on so many pages right? And being a photographer I have ALOT of portrait type pictures of my kids that don't really have meaning other than maybe we were in a cool spot or they had a new shirt lol. So that being the case I've decided to start doing "words to live by", might be a quote, Bible verse or just a note about life from me. We have beautiful kids (biased I know lol) but I always want them to know that it's their character that's truly important. Sooooo here we have my ten year old Rachael, sweetest girl ever as pretty as they come...with a "life note" I'd like her to remember. And yes of course it's for a challenge lol, this time it's for a recipe challenge (love those!!) on http://alacartechallenge.blogspot.com/. I chose to machine stitch, doodle around the edge, use a handmade embellishment and use threaded buttons. TFL!

Squeak!

A card game everyone in my family loves...except for me. They tried to make me understand how to play on vacation...even my six year old loves it and plays...but I just can't wrap my brain around the point of it. So instead I take pictures of them playing! So I decided to use up my scraps I'd start making a few cards here and there and I'm going to save them and give a box of them to my grandma for Christmas. She's a huge card sender so this will be perfect for her. I'm new to cards though so I was excited to find a card sketch challenge blog (since I'm addicted to sketches and all lol). triple duty

This lo is doing triple duty, based on this weeks sketch at sketchy thursdays http://designbydiana.blogspot.com/2009/08/new-sketchy-thursdays-challenge_13.html, my entry for queen of paradise island over at http://www.croppinparadise.com/ (who would you want to be stranded on an island with-my hubby of course) AND I did another little challenge box for a matter of memories (cut a square and make photo corners-I thought it was just the finishing touch I needed). I love mixing challenges, I always come up with something totally different than I would have on my own. It's much 'punchier' in person, for some reason the colors didn't come across very well. The yellow is very yellow and the pink a nice dark pink.

Grandparents

A lo using all crate paper 'stuff'. I'm new to them but I love their paper!! I won the sketch contest at Kraft Girl Kits in June and this was my prize, a set of papers and matching die cuts and letter stickers. I would never have picked it out on my own but I have used just about every scrap of it! And yeah...it's another sketch. I think I should have called this blog addicted to sketches lol. There are just SO many fun sketch contests this month I can't resist!

Look ma no sketch!

Hey look I am capable of doing a lo without following a sketch this month lol! It IS for a challenge though of course...this is for a monthly challenge over at http://www.amatterofmemories.com/. They have a very fun monthly challenge that you download on the first of the month and have three sheets of different types of challenges that you can choose from and submit anytime during the month. I was also lucky enough to be the July winner and was so excited to see my prize (The whole set of Honey Pie papers and die cuts from Cosmo Cricket which I just happen to have the *perfect* Easter baby chick pics for!!!) in my mailbox this morning! For this challenge I did the 'use a border punch on a picture' challenge. Love the way that Martha Stewart loopy punch looks on the picture!

yet another sketch lo!

Yep, another sketch lo. This one is for http://www.noteablekit.com/blog/. I found the new martha stewart loopy punch set while out of town and couldn't resist, it's just too fun to play with. I also got scored some great new ink that works really well with clear stamps in the dollar spot at Joann's! It's a really pretty shimmery grey, the shimmer doesn't really show up in the picture but it's really pretty in person! Stiiiiiillll using my jackpot stash!

A rare sighting

It's a rare page in the scrapbooks that 'feature' or even include me and now I've done two in a row LOL!! A new punch and some sketch challenges

I got busy this weekend and did a page about my dogs based on a Becky Fleck sketch. The second one is a based on a 2peas sketch challenge. I also got a new punch (treading water by fiskars) and used it on the second one. I'm trying to restrain myself from using it on everything.
