So things have been just a wee bit crazy around here...but I'm here today lol! I couldn't miss this, the first of the month means the debut of the April kit at Scrapbook Kit Club!! Here are three pages all made from this months kit...enjoy!

Good grief, I usually post every day but these last few weeks have been jam packed with stuff going on. So...here's a catch up on my p365 and of course today's awesome Sketchy Thursdays sketch!
Sketch first of course :)

My girls dancing with my cousin at her wedding. The creamy pocket thingy is from a Starbucks gift card holder...been saving that for awhile :)

And holy moly and whole weeks worth of p365..here we go!

Friday...this is me...I figured I should show up in my pictures once in awhile!

Saturday...we moved the rest of our stuff out of storage...no more buyer friendly house. I still have some more finishing touches to do to the living room but it's coming along! Glad to have my cozy house back.

Sunday: the first signs of spring around here, I got my first flower from the kids and had to find my little bud vase :)

Monday we got a goody box from my cousin in the UK, handmade bracelets/necklaces for the girls, a very British looking mini Cooper for Carter and CADBURY for ME...guess who the lucky one was?

Tuesday: This was the very first day I forgot to take a picture for p365...BUT in my defense I was taking so many pictures for the April Scrapbook Kit Club kit that it felt like I'd taken my picture lol. So for this day we get to see a little sneak peek at next months kit :)

Wednesday: My dad has been working on a garden for us this year since last fall, it's finally almost time to plant, the kids are SO excited and spent alot of the day outside yesterday with grandpa.

And last but not least today's....many months ago I sent my hubby a link to this necklace on etsy and said he should get it for me for my birthday and then promptly forgot about it. But then he surprised me, he remembered, ordered with plenty of time for my birthday and then the etsy store was thumbs down bad on communicating and he ended up getting it today...one week after my birthday. But I love it and am super impressed that he remembered and planned it all out and it's so pretty...he did good!

So I missed my blog post yesterday...busy busy week...so first things first we have my Sketchy Thursday lo...be sure to check out the blog to see the sketch for this week and the prize up for grabs!!

Then we have my p365...Wed was my birthday...started off the day with my favorite donuts ever and ended the day with milk chocolate cupcakes with dark chocolate ganache....it was a SWEET day!!!

Then yesterday I was looking on etsy for some living room pillows that I could see in my head but I couldn't find anywhere...which lead me to learning how to make these flowers....coming soon to an etsy near you LOL. Rachael and I had a great time making them and can't wait to make more...including some yellow ones to match my new living room!

And then last but not least if you have an slr and are scared to take it out of auto mode I'll be teaching a class at SBKC starting April 15th...here's the LINK...hope to see you there!

Every morning my husband gets up to read his Bible for a bit before work and Carter joins him. He's the lightest sleeper and there is no sneaking in a few minutes for yourself before he wakes up. Carter loves this time with daddy. As soon as I walked in he said Mom is this your picture of the day!? So even though it was still pretty dark....it was.

Friday I had the pleasure of taking pictures of the baby from Monday's potd...to see more of her session go here....she was amazing and let me do anything I wanted!

Saturday we painted a happy yellow...here's the before (we tried to sell our house so this is very buyer friendly neutral/no personality...)

This week the dt was lucked out and got to play with some pretty digi papers. Obviously I'm no digi designer....but her papers sure are pretty! Here's this week's sketch using Sassy papers!

Every Wed my husband takes turns taking our kids to HyVee on a "donut date" although lately it's been a healthier version the "egg date". They love going and look forward to it being their turn. The fact that I have a balloon tied to my curtain is just more evidence that kids live here.

Awwww...my husband's cousin's wife (brother's dog's friend....) had a baby yesterday morning. They didn't find out what they were having and I was really really hoping for a girl for them. They have a little boy. And boy is she chunky!!! 9lbs 5oz 20.5 inches. Beefy. All my babies were big like that and holding her made me want another for just a few minutes but then I recovered. Can't wait to take her "official" newborn pictures on friday. Fun to have a newborn for my p365!

So much to post today! First of all, it's the first of the month which means the new Scrapbook Kit Club kit is out! So first are three pages made with this months kit...I love the completely different looks I was able to get...and I have lots left too!

And then my weekend of potd's!

We scored free tickets to the Motor Cross event and KC and Carter had a little boys outing Friday night!

This picture just makes me laugh, Ginger was laying in "her" chair and Rachael sat on top of her, which she loved because she prefers to be sitting by or under someone at all times. But her expression is just too funny, what dog poses for a picture? She's a human trapped in a dogs body I'm tellin' ya.

It's a bittersweet time for me, my days of being on the STDT are coming to an end BUT that means I get to play for prizes again so I'm pretty excited about that! If you're looking for a fantastic dt to be on don't hesitate to try out for Sketchy Thursdays, Diana and Heidi are wonderufl to work with! Not to mention the fabulous sketches of course...speaking of which here is this weeks sketch! My kids had never been bowling until a month ago, to say they were excited would be an understatement. Used more of my new Crate Paper goodies.

I have two pages today, this was for a stamp challenge at SBKC. The challenge was touse all those alphabet stamps we hoard. I've decided I stink at boy pages. This does not feel done to me but I honestly didn't have anything else that matched and felt boyish. Blech. I'm moving on though, I've since done two more pages that I love so it's all good.

And my potd, this is what happens when you're busy all day and all of a sudden you realize it's getting dark and you're kids are leaving and you've not taken a picture yet, this is Carter hanging upside down on the couch...

I got my first month of prints from Shuttercal.com yesterday. If you're doing p365 or are thinking of starting shuttercal is THE way to go! So pleased with my prints. Sadly my kids totally destroyed the special box that is made to hold the prints in....it is now a pile of polly pocket beds. I realized you reach a whole new level of angry when your kids are old enough to know better to do something. They didn't know the box was mine (therefore it must be theirs right?). Granted it doesn't look special to a kid but the special foam insert to hold the months now polly beds were special to me. Sooo, I need to buy a whole new box...but I do love my prints!

So I've been on a little spending freeze for awhile but when I saw the peachy cheap special on Crate Paper I had to have it. I love Crate Paper stuff and it was three whole sets...none of which I had. So here's my first creation, I did one page with each set last night and I just love their paper! It's based on a sketch in the latest Pink Paislee newsletter (annoyed though because it said just create a page based on this sketch to enter a contest...then when you go to enter it says must be with pp stuff....grrr).

And my weekend potd's.

This is my brother proposing to his girlfriend...Finally!!! They met and work at TGI Friday's and Saturday night was a busy night because of a Rascal Flatt's concert. I had heard that he was going to do it during their busiest time and decided since 5000 other people would be there why not me right? Luckily we go there to eat enough when they're working that it didn't look out of place that we were there and since they were so crowded it didn't look funny that we were camped out at the bar (we usually have the kids with us). The staff knew so they got us front row seats and jumped us ahead of the hour and a half wait. So here he is on one knee (see the lighted box in his hand?). It was so crazy loud in there she had to get close to even hear him. My hubby got it on video too, so fun to be able to have that. She of course said yes and we are SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!

I had to learn a new camera for work so I got to play with a 50mm 1.4 lens, I have the 1.8 on my camera but ooooh my I knew I would like this lens but I didn't know I would love it so much. Do you see the depth here? *SWOON*. My camera is in the shop for awhile and I only have this one until tomorrow so I'm sad but am going to enjoy it while it's here!

Nothing too exciting happened yesterday so I took a little filler picture. I'm kind of excited about my filler pics though. When Rachael saw me taking this she said why in the world are you taking a picture of that? And I said, wouldn't you love to have a photo tour of great grandma's house when she was my age? Yes I would btw! So here we have my cheesy Boxer Salt and Pepper shaker set....magnetic kissing of course. I got them from my hubby for my birthday last year and they made me laugh so hard. They totally crack me up and he got them as a joke but they're proudly displayed on my shelf and I love them!

We had a *fantastic* crop at SBKC over the weekend and my challenge was to use the word fantastic in your title..with a twist...you had to use a mix of letters. A great way to use up those half sheets of letter stickers! I have a whole huge plastic divider thingie of letters so I could do this on probably the next 20 of my pages and I really do need to start using them if I'm going to bother filing them all right lol? I used black embossing powder on the ones that weren't black to still make them match a little. I'm also making it work for a love challenge for my lss and a sketch challenge for http://www.yourscrapbooksketch.com/. Love it when it works out that way! Used lots of My Minds Eye goodies and some of my Scenic Route (sniff sniff).

And my potd, Ellie cleaning her room, being held prisoner in her room because she plays rather than cleans. At this rate she'll be out when she's 12.

Yay it's Friday AND surprise surprise I'm making a post. Friday's are pretty much our Saturday around here so here's a quickie post! This page was supposed to be for a pagemaps call but I forgot to send it, I forgot to post it too. So here it is now :) My niece Gia who thanks to walmart appears to have red hair here. (someday I'll learn to not to quick printing there).

And of course my p365. Yesterday Carter asked me if he could sleep in the suitcase for his nap. No sir. So he threw a fit and never did take a nap. This was what I found last night when I went up to bed. A few ratty blankets and pillow, a suitcase and Alvin....and that's all I need.

It's Thursday...which means it's time for a new Sketchy Thursdays Sketch! And since we're having a blog hop this week to celebrate the new February kit at Scrapbook Kit Club I thought I'd do this weeks page with items from the new kit!

And then yesterday's picture. My brother is at boot camp, he's been there for a month and loser me finally wrote him a letter yesterday.

But I have to tell you what was almost my picture of the day. So we have a dog as you may have noticed but we also have a cat, we've had her alot longer (cat lovers cover your ears please) and I hate her. Like really really hate her. She loves my husband and my son and they love her back. She's kind of a trampy cat. Anyway, she's an indoor outdoor cat and she likes to try and win my love by killing things and leaving them where I can find them. *Usually* this is on our front sidewalk. Once though she brought a dead mole up and left it under my sheets in the night! That was the worst, there really is nothing worse than that. Yesterday however (again not tuning into my love language) she brought a dead mole into my LIVING ROOM!!!!!!!!! So not ok with that! I had the camera in my hand...but it was just too gross. I don't ever want to look at that again (although he was all in one piece and appeared to be napping-sorta). So if the letter picture is a little boring, it's gotta be better than a dead mole.

A little bit about me....I'm a mom of three and I've been scrapping since my second was born in 2003. I took a four year break when my son was born and was so excited to re-enter the world of scrapping last summer. In August I joined the SBKC team and have totally fallen in love with kits thanks to the awesome kits Amber puts together!

Here's my favorite page from this month's kit. It's one of my project 365 pictures that I just had to scrap, I LOVE it. The ruffled ribbon in the kit was perfect to frame the picture and I used the smooch ink around the letters to bring in just a little more pink, such a yummy color combo!

And speaking of p365 here's my picture from yesterday. Carter enjoying his new boots with fresh snow that came at the same time the new boots did.

This page was is off of a page I fell in love with in the latest CK magazine. I've been hanging onto these pictures for awhile now and the paper was just perfect for them!

My potd: Carter has been absoultely obsessed with needing a pair of boots this winter. And of course we've had a ton of snow so he really does need them. But since I didn't buy them when the pool was still up I've not been able to find any in his size (unless I wanted to pay and arm and a leg). So a good friend of ours found these beauties on clearance for only 5.00 each....Score! Now, he can go be intense about other things.

Ah, so much to post about today!! First things first...it's the first of the month! So that means the new Scrapbook Kit Club kit is out! It's soooo pretty, I LOVE it! We're having a blog hop this week to celebrate the kit so I'll be spreading my pages out over the week. The first one is my sweet Boxer Ginger. She looooves a good fresh pile of laundry. Like seriously loves it.

And then of course friday hits and I'm terrible at uploading my p365 stuff over weekends and this was a crazy busy one! So here we have thursday's Ellie reading Robert the Rose Horse to Ginger (she loves a good story).

I have to share my runner up though, I'd already uploaded this to shuttercal and was to lazy to change it but we ended up spur of the moment going bowling that night and it was the first time ever for our kids love their faces lol!

Then onto friday, I shot a wedding rehearsal...

Then Saturday was the big day (yes we were very cold!)

And then I spent the entire day sunday looking at lighroom and will be doing so for about the next two weeks lol

Yesterday was a biiiiig big day in our house. Carter sat down and played with cars all on his own. Amazing!

I had a second runner up too...I would have used it if Carter playing with toys wasn't such a rare occurance around here. When people are wondering what kind of gift to get him and ask "what's he into"? I always say trouble...it's true...as I type this he's standing next to me wrapping one of his sister's bracelets around the lamp.

But could she possibly BE any cuter? Seriously, this is her cuteness yesterday as I was snapping away at Carter playing with his cars.

A shot of my computer screen. I have a Go Wear Fit (kind of like contestants on The Biggest Loser wear) that I bought last May and I dropped ten pounds the first month of wearing it and then long story short I broke it and I procrastinated so long that I just now got it fixed, yesterday was my first full day of wearing it again. And during my time of procrastination and falling off the wagon I managed to gain all but 10 of the 30lbs I lost last year. BIG BUMMER. Glad to have my little arm band buddy back again and hoping it will help me lose a little faster this time since I can actually SEE what I'm doing, takes all the guess work out!

Blogspot hasn't been nice to me...not letting me upload pictures! So, here are my first four days of project 365 :)
day one: my family taking the traditional "family on the steps" picture at my grandma's house

Day two spent the whole day scrapping with a friend...good way to spend a day!

Day three spent the day home with a sick little boy...even though he can't help but smile when he sees the camera

Day four: Break is over...back to school!

Yay, I picked up my computer yesterday afternoon and all is well. It just needed a new power thingamabob. I think the computer guy is my new hero though. Also...I sent my hubby into the camera store (I refuse to step foot inside because steam always comes out of my ears when I'm there) to rent me a flash unit for my slr to have for Christmas. He comes out with a point and shoot camera instead. I was tickled because I've been wanting a teeny purse sized camera to have for project 365. These are the first pictures I took and have had developed and man am I bummed! They're pretty yucky looking, it's a nikon coolpix. Anyone have a little purse sized camera they love?

Just wanted to check in and say a quick hi...haivng serious computer issues... as in blew up an outlet (tried really hard to light the couch on fire) which made my computer go dead. Hubby took it in today and we're crossing our fingers that it's fixable. In the meantime I'm working on getting some scrapping done (super hard without my computer with all my pictures!!!), I'm being forced to go "old school" and I'm not liking it one bit. I AM looking forward to starting project 365 on friday though and wanted to throw a link out there for anyone else thinking of doing it. I LOVE this site so much, I'm thrilled to pieces that I found it just when I'm getting ready to start. If you join please add me as a friend!

So....nice and last minute like a week or so ago we took Chrismtas pictures. This is much harder than you think when you're a photographer...when you don't plan well and do them spontaneously you have to rely on the self timer...and daughter...and hubby if you want to be in any of them yourself. So here's a few from our little whirlwind of a session (now the real trick will be if I can actually get them turned into cards, ordered AND mailed out...so far I've designed the card.

Yep, that's what they are...this is what you get when you let them "pose" themselves lol!! This is for this months sketch at Scrapbook Express using papers & die cuts from My Minds Eye! Ooooh and do you see what I did? I got a Cricut on black friday....been drooling over them forever....and finally got one!!! But I've been either sick or busy...and it's been driving me crazy to have it sitting there taunting me. So I finally had time last night to download SCAL and I only just dipped my big toe in to get a feel for how it all works but hey -how do you like that "hams" and scallop there eh? I'm now at the point where I'm pretty much wanting to cut out everything and am holding myself back lol. I think I'm going to be very good friends with my little Cricut!

I have to say if you've been thinking of trying out a kit do not hesitate to get this one!! It's huge, it's like no matter what I make my box does not get emptier...the kit that keeps on kit-ing lol! I've done three pages with another in the works plus a card...so far! My sketchy thursdays lo from last week was made with the kit and here are two more...

I had lots of fun with the paint, I haven't gotten paint out in forever and I love the way it looks on the edges!

oh...and ps I totally cheated here and used leftover rhinestones from the Nov kit. This month does have red ones included but I used them all up!!

This is totally different for me, but I saw this sketch from pencil lines and knew it was perfect for the clouds that come with the MME die cut sheet. I love the way it turned out, that's my favorite part of scrapping that I can have a different style on every page. My husband wasn't so sure about this one (by the way he's put out a few rockin' scrapbook pages himself in case you wonder why I take so much stock in a non scrappers' opinion lol)...he also told me the girls look sick in the picture. Umm it's *supposed* to be vintage...guess not. Anyway...to me the clouds seemed perfect with this picture of them laying in the grass.

I just love this new My Minds Eye stuff! I had a super hard time taking a picture of it, it's been crazy gloomy around here lately (my kids are asking for supper at 3:00 lol) so pretend the background is a nice perfect white and the picture is a nice normal black and white picture. This is for this week's challenge at ScrapbookExpress.com, using die cuts to add texture to your pages! I had alot of fun with the die cuts distressing the edges and layering the hearts. Now, I love the way this page turned out...but my husband hates it. I think it's the first page he's ever umm.... strongly disliked....so yeah...just a little nervous about putting it up lol. Oh and I should also mention it's based on the last MME sketch challenge on their blog :)

Here is this week's sketch! Now, like last month I'm just a little bit extra-excited about this one because today's sponsor is Scrapbook Kit Club...today I used Dec's kit (which I just got in my hot little hands on Tuesday) so you can see a little preview of what is in the December kit! I had to pick up my jaw when I opened my box. First off, let me just say I was never a kit girl until I got picked for their dt. I've changed my mind lol. I LOVE opening up a box where everything matches, I just reach and scrap until my box is empty. I never thought I would like that but I LOVE it! And every single month I LOVE what is in my box. Ok, so for today's sketch....my son got a guitar last Christmas...and he was so excited but still doesn't pronounce it right lol, to him it's a buh-tar. So I had to scrap that! Scrapsketch day! Here's sketch 183! My daughter got allll over her long pretty hair chopped off. She's our kid that no matter what I do she looks disheveled. Seriously. I try so hard to make her look all cute and put together and no matter what by the time we arrive at our destination she's a mess. So silly us....first we thought if we grew her hair out that would make it better. Yeah right, she's very anti brushing. And then we thought we'd get it all chopped off again. Which while adorable is a pain because I have to flat iron it. But she couldn't be any cuter in it! Our older daughter by the way never leaves the house without wearing a complete matching ensemble and hair perfectly coifed....and she's been like that since birth. I'm kind of curious to see them as teen agers lol.

No, I'm just late posting my Sketchy Thursday lo. This week besides an awesome sketch the dt was challenged with "Japanese pop culture" which had me all sorts of nervous because that is completely opposite of my usual style (see previous page). However I dug and dug and dug through my stash and found some scenic route stuff that seemed to fit the bill and since I bought these papers for events that haven't happend yet (you know how that can happen) I decided to use drawings and Carter writing his name for me.
Want to hear a funny story about that? So the other day my husband pops home from work for a few min to take a quick nap...so he lays down and calls me up there, he had moved the pillow and found...very neatly written CARTER BJ underlined. Carter is four, Ellie is six. Because of the perfectly lined up evenly written letters (see below how he *usually* writes his name) we assume it's Ellie. We call her up, she bursts into tears....not because she thought she was in trouble for doing it because she knew she hadn't but because we had the audacity to think her handwriting is that bad. (Being that we homeschool and I see her writing daily, I would have to say her handwriting IS that bad....). So then we called Carter up who very matter-of-factly told us he did it. Sooooo you know, who needs monogrammed sheets when your four year old can scrawl their name on them. Oh, and the BJ part lol? We have a guy at church who's name is BJ and Carter adores him and that's his "pretend" name (the girls started calling him that when he was two). He's got two others too but 99% of the time it's BJ.

So yeah... this page WAS in celebration of him learning to write his name....

So I posted this picture and it's "story" the other day and here's the page that I came up with for it using the new life stories line from My Minds Eye...haven't done a shabby/distressed etc. page in a loooong time. I used to do almost all of my pages with paper like this and have veered towards fun brighter colors since I came back to scrapping this year. It was fun to get out my ink (which four years later is as good as new lol). If you love kraft paper you NEED this line, the backs of all of these are perfect wonderful kraft paper and I adore this grid paper I used for the background. All of this can be found at Scrapbook Express! It's also based on a sketch at Inspired Blueprints!

I love love love how this page came out.! Diana has the greatest sketches and I so love my scenic route stash. Like I've said before, I have way too many "moment" type pictures so I'm trying to use them in a different way....with a favorite Bible verse or "life lesson" etc. They hear how pretty they are all the time...no need to dedicate 100 scrapbook pages to that subject lol! So here is one with her favorite verse (and mine :) ). Check out this weeks sketch here and the awesome prize you can win...just by playing along-doesn't get any easier than that!

Oooh and happy accident (love it when those happen) I cut my blue background paper 8x11 rather than 8.5x11 so I had to do something different for the edge and I just love how feminine it turned out especially since I used orange as an accent when there is not any orange in the picture!

So no lo's I can share today (tomorrow is thursday though!) so how about a quick pic of my hubby I took on Sat? We went and stayed at my grandma's who lives out in the country and it was soooo pretty with the blue sky and the BEAN (yes I might have been corrected on what kind of field is next to her house) field and then I saw the sweater he was wearing and I made him go stand out there lol. It was totally the wrong time of day....had he been a paying client we'd have gone home lol BUT since I really really wanted it I did some major reconstructive surgery on his face and got grouchy that I don't have a big flash of my own lol. Ooh and I just took this one of my daughter a few mintues ago. I noticed this leaf hanging on a bush in our yard last night but it was too dark to take a picture. It was the only leaf left and I don't know how I didn't notice before but they're heart shaped...or at least this one was lol! I got some of it hanging by itself but the colors around it were yuk but I love this one of my daughter holding it :)

So I saw this youtube video posted on Erin Lincoln's blog (love her btw) and I don't usually bother to click on stuff like that...I'm looking for paper not songs lol. But I did and I sent it immediately to my husband...aaaaand it's been stuck in both of our head's ever since. I love this song! So what do you do when you get a song stuck in your head? Scrap it of course. So I'm not as clever as Erin and have no clue how to post the video here (and I did try lol) but here's the link in case you'd like it stuck in your head Jason Castro.

This year is the first year I've ever put us in the scrapbook...how dumb is that!? Actually I've not really had alot of pictures to choose from... but still. Bottom picture was taken by my then 8 year old two summers ago and then the top pic was taken last fall during our family session. I was actually pretty bummed with them but I had two must have pics and that was one of them. I love the way my two must haves came out and the rest...meh. Anyway, they didn't photograph well for this page...I don't really look like a ghost in the picture lol.

This would be me on a private patio at parliament...I'm just cool like that mhhm. Next in this series is a picture of a cop (only they're not cops and I'm blanking on the name) under Big Ben yelling at me to stop taking pictures...ooooonly happens to me I tell ya.

It is a truly beautiful kit and perfect for the season we're in. My hubby told me these are some of his favorite pages I've done....(remember the whole "me decorating like a clown" comment-you see now how he would decorate).

I was going to space these out posting over a few days but nah...also a little sidenote.....YES I DO know how to tie bows in other ways. I lined them all up in a row to admire them when I was done and couldn't believe I had managed to tie the bow the SAME way on all three pages lol. Granted I didn't scrap them all at once...but still lol!! Oh, and I'm also using bits of the add on kits...the technique add on kit has my most favorite scrapping item I own...my handy dandy embossing pen (at least that's what I call it) and some black glitter (which I also used on my "clown" page). And if you like this kit you might as well just sign up for auto ship, I've seen bits and pieces of the next two months and they are DELISH!! I'll be posting a little more from this kit soon, I still have my paint to use!!

Twinkle, Sparkle, Shimmer....

I'm up to my eyeballs in glitter over here! This week at Sketchy Thursdays our sponsor was Art Glitter. The colors I received are Barbie's and Gala Glitz Gold. I used the Martha Stewart glue stamp pad and my acrylic stamps to create the title. I also used the awesome glue they sent with the glitter that came with a super tiny metal tip and outlined the letters to make them raised. I had fun playing around with the tip, easy to handwrite things (if you have good handwriting in the first place lol). The gold gala stuff is very fun, it's chunky glitter with little tiny gold balls in it. This page is much sparklier and prettier in person....my ten year old is in love with it lol.

Today is a second chance day at Sketchy Thursdays! Lil Scrappin Mama has spoiled us rotten this month with a Fantastic (with a capital F there see?) October kit! One lucky winner will WIN this kit!! We had to create something with the kit dominant colors of orange and brown with a pop color of either teal or hot pink. I had THE perfect pictures to use. Last Sat it SNOWED. I'm not ok with that, our kids didn't even have winter coats yet! So my daughter ran out (with socks on her hands lol) and her little spring jacket and caught snowflakes for a few minutes. I love that I captured all that beautiful fall color with a punch of her hot pink jacket!

Do you ever do one of those pages that is just so *you*? This is one of those pages for me. I'd decorate my house like this in a heartbeat...but it might look like a clown lived here...and my husband would move out. So since I can't exactly decorate like this...or at least to this extreme I'll keep the whimsy to my pages :). This week at sketchy thursday the dt was given this gorgeous digi kit to work with. I'm not a digi scrapper but I love the patterns and colors in this and was very excited to print them off. I scrap both 8.5x11 and 12x12, just pretty much whatever mood I'm in for a page and for this one since I have a regular old printer...and one that doesn't do borderless printing to boot I did an 8.5x11 page. For this weeks sketch at 52 sketches. I LOVE how these colors came together. I'm pretty sure I've never scrapped these colors before but I had this little scrap of patterned paper and then the grey and green were laying by each other and it just fell into place. Love it when that happens! I had my hubby write a note to Carter on here, they have the same birthday and this is one of their birthday pictures...I have a gazillion more but this one is different than the others and I love how he's cuddled in dad's lap here.

So how's this for crazy....I have three kids ages 10,6, and 4. I have done exactly FOUR birthday pages ever. Mhmm. I did my girls' first birthdays a random maybe 6th? for my oldest and now this one. Yep, I hate scrapping events. I'm way more of a "moments" scrapper than events. I don't know if it's because events have a bajillion colors in them, very snapshotty pictures or just have waaaay to many pictures to choose from but I avoid them at all costs. I have done exactly ONE christmas lo ever. That's all about to change though....so hold onto your hats and be prepared to see some holidays around here.

Why am I changing my tune? Ok, this is the part where if you're anything like me you click out of here because I'm going to make you squirm a little. We're doing a "One month to live" campaign at my church in Oct. As a leader there we've been preparing for it and it got me thinking. If I had one month to live I probably wouldn't scrapbook but I would likely grab a stack of my favorite pics and write some notes on the back. I would probably do some sort of questionnaire about myself for my kids....and then there'd be a whole lot of family snuggle time. But it really got me thinking about my pages.

I just came back to scrapping this summer from a FOUR yes FOUR year break and I changed my "rules" big time. No more worrying about getting caught up, no more worrying about scrapping every single official milestone, place we went or worrying about having to many "moment" lo's. I scrap the pictures that speak to me, the moments I want to highlight and remember. Maybe I'm just highlighting it because I liked their shirt, the location or maybe I just did a really good job on the pic. The only new "rule" I've set for myself is that I scrap pages that I wish I had of my parents and grandparents. When my kids look at my albums I want them to know I scrapped the pictures and moments that were important to me.

I realized that if you look back through my albums you'll see alot of my kids looking cute, me telling them I love them...but ok we get it. Now it's time to include the less glamorous but just as important moments. This is Carter's first big boy birthday party where he invited friends. No, I don't have alot of journaling on the front but on the back (and I do this alot) there is a more complete note of what we did and who came etc. I have to tell you he was SO excited to see this page finished. Every time he walks past it (hasn't made it's way to an album yet lol) he tells me about his party and what he wants to do for his next party. I love that.

My mom and I were just talking about my great grandpa who passed away when I was just a little younger than Carter is now. I have no memory of him. It makes me so sad that if Carter were to lose any grandparents he wouldn't remember them and all the fun he has with them. Those family holidays are huge in our house, we plan them and look forward to them with great anticipation. My kids talk about them for months before and after. It's only fair that they become part of my albums. Sooo here I go delving into my picture box, looking for the stories I want to tell and *gasp* I just might do some pages about me. Something I've always thought was dumb (who has time for scrapping ME when I have a million kid pics right?). But when it's all said and done my albums will show our life. I've even done some pages lately of my nieces and nephews. My husband looked at me like I'd grown two heads when I did my first one. I said I took those pictures, I love them, they're a huge part of our life why wouldn't they be in my albums?

So there you have it, off my umm sappy introspective rant? Lol, back to my short little happy posts now. The challenge was to celebrate the date 9.9.09 and it had to have nine pictures, nine letters in the title and nine of the same embellishments.
